Where in Chester? II

We had covered a Royal Enfield dealer in Chester in a previous post. Thanks to reader Jan, who spotted this picture for sale in ebay,
we can say there was probably more than one (look at the left). Here is what the place looks today,

    Amazing find. What an odd street. Most if not all of the buildings seem to have open bay second floors. The old picture shows that these were original. I can think of reasons why one building might have an open floor at this point, but it seems strange that they all would.
