The gentleman in the hat is King George VI, inspecting a Royal Enfield diesel engined frost fan during a visit to the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Wrest Park, Silsoe in 1949. Unfortunately it was the last official appearance of the King, who fell ill and eventually passed away three years later.
