75cc (updated)

Apparently two prototype 75cc bikes with two stroke engines and 5 speed gearboxes were built by Royal Enfield in the early 1960's but were given the thumbs down by dealers. One of the models had a traditional tank and seats and the other one is the one displayed in the pictures. It was acquired by an enthusiast when the Redditch factor was closed down and was still around in the 1980's.

Update: it apparently is still around today!

Those must be one of the Zundapp based machines built in Ranipet. We blogged about some of them.
