Royal Enfields with Hatz diesel engines were sold in the UK by Charnville Classics of Coalville. In Ireland, Derek Rynhart of Rynhart Research and Development decided to supercharge the engine. Gordon May was able to ride one of the supercharged bikes and it efortlessly got to 70mph, some feat for a 350 diesel. Rynhart was determined to set a world speed record for a diesel motorcycle. Alas, the crankshafts could not take the extra horsepower and the project was terminated in 2002.
