Test rider

We have a reader in the blog, Franco, who was a test rider and apprentice in the 1950s in Royal Enfield, when Tony Wilson-Jones ran the show and the notorious Brian Crowe was the foreman of the factory development shop. He claims he took a Constellation through the quarter mile timing lights at MIRA at 118 mph. He also mentions that Indian Motorcycles asked the Enfield shop to develop a 500cc West Coast Woodsman that achieved around 100mph.
