Announcing the first Enfield motorcycle

  1. Apparently in error is the statement in the 1901 clipping that the motor was "under the down tube" unless something else is meant than I understand. The illustration used as background for this blog shows the arrangement has the motor ahead of the headstock and handlebars, yet the vehicle has rear-wheel drive! It's a curious combination that no doubt explains the apparent shield protecting the rider's leg from the long drive belt. I would love to try this layout someday on a bicycle.
