French engines

People probably saw on the Internet the pictures of a large number of Royal Enfield engines that were found in France. They were sold in the UK by Burtons Bike Bits. I contacted them and Carolyne was kind enough to reply. Her father actually went to northern France in the 80's and was offered the Royal Enfield 350cc CO engines. He ended up getting around 50. They were all reconditioned complete with carbs and magdynos and Albion gearboxes. Apparently there were hundreds of them, but that was all they could afford! It would be interesting if someone could dig up a bit more of how these engines came up to be!
