I thought this was a kind way of saying something was a screwy idea: "1914 produced nothing startling in the way of innovations, but it must be mentioned that Enfield forestalled modern demand by providing as an available extra, a flexibly mounted handlebar." This is described in Peter Miller's book "Royal Enfield, The Early History." The handlebar could rotate against a spring within its mounting lug. The sensation would have been very odd, I think. Miller says it was only offered this one year.
