Don't be silly - I'm taking the Honda!

Two gentlemen from Weston in the UK, Richard Evans and Simon Chegwyn, will be riding from Weston to New Delhi in India to raise money for charity. They are both Royal Enfield riders, but only one of them is taking his Bullet 500. The other Enfield will stay home "don't be silly - I'm taking the Honda!" were the words of Simon when asked about it. He fully anticipates using one of his Honda's panniers for Richard's Enfield's spares and tool kit.Take a look at their website and if possible, donate to their cause, it can be done online here. Good luck!

  1. I've owned both kinds of motorcycles. I've never taken a trip like this. Even so, I think I would take the Royal Enfield. My Honda was completely reliable, but it wasn't entertaining. It took the challenge out of riding, really. That's a long way to go if you're bored much of the time; and there are bound to be boring roads, even on this trip.

  2. I'm happy to be riding the Honda if it means a safe and pleasant trip! Having ridden Enfields all over India and also owning one in the Uk I think a bit of 'Honda' time is well and truly earned. The last time I was abroad on my Enfield was with Richard. He had bought another Enfield for a friend in southern Spain and after delivery he flew home leaving me to ride back. The trip was good but for long days on challenging roads and conditions I'll be taking the Honda. I'm sure Rich might let me ride his if I need a little reminder (or have forgotton to shake my medicine) as to how things have changed over the years. Enfields are great and I wouldn't knock them (well not too much) but we all need a change (and a rest) on occassions!
