The Chakda

In Gujarat, the Chakda is a Royal Enfield with diesel engine, some sort of shaft drive,

and no, it is not a cargo truck, it is a... passenger vehicle!

Hi Jorge,

Nice photos for a subjects that gets to little attention on the web, the Jugaad & Chakda (or Meen Body Vandi, as called in Tamil Nadu).

I too was fascinated by the local ingenuity of villagers across India, the improvisation creativity, the economical & sustainable reuse of salvaged parts.
