David Blasco recently covered a Model J that was for sale in ebay, which the Royal Enfield Owners' Club identified as having been delivered to the dealer in New York. So it seems appropriate to write about them. The main US distributor of Royal Enfield, starting at the end of World War II all the way to the demise in 1970 was Whitehall Distributors at 1385 Commerce Ave. in the Bronx.
Today that location corresponds to Star Fitness and although the building looks similar, a closer inspection with Google street view shows it is a relatively recent building, so it is unlikely it is the same as the one Whitehall occupied.

Wow, it sure does look similar, given that the original artist no doubt exaggerated the length on Butler Place. I really wonder... Another great find, Jorge.
