When people think of a milkman on a Royal Enfield, one tends to think of the color picture here (I believe it appears in the book by Gordon May). When one shows other people this picture there is amazement at having milk delivered on a motorcycle. However in the 1920's, Londoners would not have given a second thought to that, as this picture of a Royal Enfield attests,

ReplyDeleteI don't think the springs on that sidecar are up to the job! Interesting how the milk jugs in both pictures are the same design. I would have thought there'd be more variation over time and distance.
