No, not the remarkable writer who passed away recently. Hitchen's was a department store in Morecambe, near Lancaster, Lancashire. It sold Royal Enfields, as the an ad from January 4th 1912 in The Motor Cycle attests. However, in spite of its admonition in the ad "you cannot have forgotten the address", it lists none! I did find a Hichen's store in a magnificent art deco building in 160 Marine road in Morecambe. But that store was part of the Hitchens Group PLC, which was founded in 1926, so it was not around in 1912. It moreover appears to have run into financial trouble in 2008 and closed in 2010
They should have listed the address! Click on the ad to read it. It has quite an elaborate prose. Maybe Christopher would have liked it.

Don't know about him, but I find it delightful. I love the line "you cannot have forgotten the address." Apparently, Morecambe, Lancashire was all you needed.
