The Bude Hotel was the legacy of a long line of coaching inns in Exeter. Apparently it was established in 1358 as the London Inn. The Duke of York and the Prince of Wales (later George IV) dined there. It was eventually demolished to make room for transit in the area in 1933. Here is a picture before the demolition.
This is the Hotel's footprint in a modern aerial view of the region, there still is a Bude Street in honor of the place.
